WHAT TYPE OF SHOWS DOES PACK PRODUCE:
- Fall Musicals are typically a Jr or youth edition catering to students grades 2-12.
- Spring Musicals are typically a full musical catered to high school students but open to 8th-12th grade to audition.
WHAT TO PREPARE FOR VOCAL AUDITIONS:
- Bring your own sheet music for the vocal audition. Your song should highlight your strengths within your comfortable range. Choose something you are confident in singing. Transpositions on site, recordings and karaoke tracks are not allowed and a cappella is highly discouraged. Please be prepared to sing at least 16 bars.
AUDITION DAY:
- Come to the KHS cafeteria on your chosen audition day, please come at least 15 min early.
- Check in with staff and receive your number
- When your number is called you will go with your number group to the back hall and wait for your individual closed audition.
- Please wait outside the choir room until the directors release you.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM CALLED BACK OR IN THE SHOW?
- The directors will let you know on audition day whether you are invited to callbacks or not. Please only attend callbacks if invited.
- You will know either audition day or receive a call by the end of the week if you are cast in the show or not.
- Being called back or not does not determine if you are casted in the show.
AUDITION TIPS TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Be prepared
- Be on time
- Slate Professionally - Introduce yourself and your song/monologue before beginning
- Make eye contact with the casting committee during your introduction
- Dress appropriately
- Be confident
- Be kind and respectful
- Memorize your chosen song lyrics
- Take direction if given
- Prior to your audition, warm up your body and voice
- Talk the accompanist through your song: start, stop, intro, tempo, etc.
- If you are in the room while other people are auditioning, be respectful and attentive.
- Speak loudly and clearly. Make sure your auditors (casting committee) can hear you - PROJECT!
- Say “thank you” when finished
- Don't apologize during or after your audition
- Think about the work that you did and be proud of yourself!!
