Auditioning for PACK

For a musical or Jr show: At the audition be prepared to bring and sing your own sheet music. Your song should be Broadway-style song in your own key: no transpositions on site, no tapes, no karaoke, no a cappella. Please be prepared to sing at least 16 bars.  You will be asked to dance so please wear appropriate covered shoes and clothing. You may also be asked to read from the script.  

*PLEASE NOTE....there will be ABSOLUTELY  NO exceptions you must come with sheet music. If you come prepared you have a better chance of being cast into the musical. 

To audition for Shakespeare or a straight play, please prepare a 1 minute monologue  from the works of William Shakespeare. There will also be reading from the script. Audition requirements may change to suit the needs of the production's director. 


Callbacks: Will be announced in person or by phone call.  Please only attend callbacks if you are invited.

Here are some positive ways to be more memorable at your next audition.

  • Be Prepared. Being prepared in every possible way is sure to make you stand out. 
  • Be On time. Being on time is super important. ... 
  • Slate Professionally. Introduce yourself and your song before beginning. Make eye contact with the casting committee during your introduction.
  • Dress Appropriately.
  • Be confident. 
  • Be Kind and respectful to everyone. 
  • Memorize your song.
  • Take Direction. 
  • Warm up your body and voice.
  • Talk the accompanist through your song: start, stop, intro, tempo, etc.
  • If you are in the room while other people are auditioning, stay quiet and watch them. Ask yourself, “What are they doing that works? If I had the chance, what would I do differently?”
  • Speak loudly and clearly. Make sure your auditors (casting committee) can hear you- PROJECT! 
  • Make strong choices!
  • Connect.

After the Audition

  • Say “thank you” when finished.
  • No apologies needed.
  • Don’t complain. Don’t explain.
  • Think about the work that you did.
  • Don’t dwell on your mistakes. Learn from them.
  • Audition frequently.
